Headed North in Search of Cooler Weather

Woke up this morning, ready to head north after a couple of youth football games.  But first, we needed to get the van on the tow dolly, unplug the electrical, disconnect the water and "flush" the septic.  All in a days retirement adventure.  The neighbors came out to watch us use our collective inexperience to load the van on the tow dolly.  Fourth time was a charm.

The other departure tasks went very well until it was time to turn off the A/C and "unplug."  The "shore power plug" was melted into the 30 adaptor on the side of the RV.  What?  We are feeling very grateful that there was not a fire.  Amazing; but, what to do?  We headed up to West Frankfort for Carson's football game.  We called Good Sam on the way - not much luck.  Chad Schimpf (Dominique's man), suggested we contact Larry's Trailer Sales; Zeigler IL on Labor Day Weekend for assistance.  They had us back in gear in less than an hour.  We missed Carson's game.  Sorry Buddy.

We did get back in time for Connor's game.  Last week he played mostly Special Teams.  Today, he played in all three phases: Offense; Defense; and, Special Teams.  Unfortunately, the 100 degree heat was not their freind.  First loss of the season.  Sorry Buddy.  Lots of water and Gatorade on the agenda for the rest of the day.

After the game, we headed north for Springfield IL.  We arrived about two hours later that we had hoped.  But, given the morning we'd had, we were just happy to arrive safely.  We're at the Double J RV Park, just a few spaces away from Dale's sister Faye and her husband Harry.  They winter in Arizona.  We have lots of RV talking we can do.

186 miles today.
