Storm Moves Through; then Friends Visit

Last day before we resume the trip north.  Temperatures have cooled more; seems like it may be time to access warmer clothing.  Dale refers to the van's storage as the basement.  After a nice morning walk and breakfast with Jack and Shoes he proceeded to clean out the "basement," moving the warmer clothes to the top.

Soon after he completed this task, the clouds rolled in bringing along a good deal of wind.  The RV began to rock n roll quite a bit.  First things first, the awning had to be retracted - done.  We began to look for the formation of a funnel cloud (tornado).  The wind became a little more intense and we discussed heading for shelter.  Then came the rain, the lightning and the thunder.  After the storm passed, a beautiful rainbow remained.

Then, friends Barb & Don Huggins from Joliet IL (fictitious home of Jake & Elroy - the Blues Brothers) came to visit.  Patti and Barb concluded that they have been friends for 46 years.  We share a wedding anniversary date of November 23: we were married in 1979; Barb & Don in 1985.  Our sons were both born in 1987, just a few months apart.  We dined at Canal Port in the very small town of Utica IL.  Patti and Barb whined a bit about the fried chicken both Don and Dale ordered; because prep-time was 30 minutes (more time to visit - LOL).  Just a great evening with great friends.  Thinking an Alaskan Cruise together, next summer, sounds like a good idea.

Seeing some pretty neat friends along the way.  Great fun catching up.
