Another beautiful day in New England, this time from Clinton, Connecticut. This part of CT is quiet and somewhat secluded, very peaceful and quaint. Clinton is east of New Haven CT and west of Providence, Rhode Island. We plan to visit Central Park, in Fall Dress, tomorrow. So, we thought we'd see what we needed to do to take the two hour train ride to "The City." But, first we wanted to see the Atlantic Ocean from Rhode Island. We headed east and saw beautiful color along the way.
As we passed Mystic CT on I-95 N we decided we'd return there for lunch on the way back. A historic community on the Connecticut coast. A ship building community. We noted that we were within a short drive of the Atlantic Ocean and Long Island Sound. So, when we crossed into Rhode Island, we turned South and headed to the water. It was 72 degrees and windy. The businesses along the beach drive have closed for the season. The facilities on the beach are closed for the season. Very different from Florida's year-round beach climate. Interesting.
On the way west, to New Haven CT, we stopped in Mystic for a nice lunch. We ate at the Mystic Diner. Dale was disappointed that it was a real restaurant and not a classic diner. On to New Haven.
We went to the train station to determine parking availability and what needed to be done to secure tickets for the correct train to Manhattan. We'll catch a train in the morning for a two hour ride to Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. Sounds easy, we'll see.
As we left for "home," we realized that we were only a short distance from Yale University. We had to take a quick side trip to see the architecture and fall colors. Beautiful!
Watch for the details on our commuter train ride.
